The "Giessener Münzhandlung" was founded by Dieter Gorny in Giessen in 1970 and has been located in the centre of Munich at Maximiliansplatz since 1978. In 1999 Dr. Hans-Christoph von Mosch joined as an additional managing director through the transfer of shares in the business and the company's name then changed to "Gorny & Mosch Giessener Münzhandlung GmbH".
Opening of the Ancient Art Gallery
In autumn 2002 the business premises of "Gorny & Mosch" were expanded in order to house their Ancient Art Gallery: This gallery exhibits art ranging from the Egyptian, Greek and Roman antiquity and prehistoric, protohistoric and Near Eastern Art right through to Byzantine, Islamic, pre-Columbian, African and Asiatic items. In 2010, Gorny & Mosch celebrated its company anniversary and looks back at 50 years of success in coin and art dealing and in the auction business. Since the beginning of 2020, Gorny & Mosch has also had a representative office in the Rhine-Main region. In 2020 Gorny & Mosch looks back on 50 successful years in the coin and art trade as well as in the auction business.
